Do you have kids, teenagers, or young adults who are keen coders, budding entrepreneurs, or perhaps have a fair for engineering and design? If so, this event should be right up their alley.

Blockchain Education Network (BEN) is a grassroots organization of clubs based in academic campuses around the world. As a sponsoring partner of the Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Blockchain Super Conference (held Feb 16-18, 2018 in Dallas, Texas), it is organizing a two-day hackathon for kids, teenagers, and young adults – where they put them into groups, give them a selection of enterprise-level tools, and coach them through the process of designing and developing a prototype blockchain-based application.

This hackathon is a perfect opportunity for teens or young adults in your life to learn how blockchain works, build their confidence, and gain valuable experience in entrepreneurship and development – all while having a blast and making new friends!

On the third day of the conference, a panel of venture capitalists, angel investors, and blockchain developers and entrepreneurs will judge each project and provide constructive feedback. The winning project will receive a monetary prize (to be determined) – and there may be opportunities to take their projects further under the wing of one the panelists and/or other industry insiders who will be speaking at the conference – possibly acquiring funding!

Previous hackathons organized by BEN have produced several successful platforms – including a brand-new type of cryptocurrency (OZCoin), a blockchain-based system for verifying identity while combating identity theft (CryptID), and a paperless system for managing and processing cargo documents in a way that reduces barriers for international trade (CargoChain).

First and foremost, the goal of these hackathons is to give young folks a chance to learn about blockchain and entrepreneurship and get their hands dirty in a supportive environment.

The Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Blockchain Super Conference takes place in Dallas, Texas, from Friday February 16th to Sunday February 18th. If you register before the “Early Bird” deadline, tickets cost just $547 (the full price is $797) – and participation in the hackathon is complimentary.
